Cippix comes with improved, faster keyword search
and improved Chemical Content Recognition in tables

The keyword search has been revamped and provides much faster responses now.

In addition to truncations, you can now use the range operator. If you want to find all documents that have a first priority date between 1st Jan 2018 and 31st Dec 2019, you can use either wildcards:

(fpd:2018* or fpd:2019*)

or use the range operator:

fpd:[20180000 TO 20191231]

Major Update - Improved Recognition of misspelled chemical names in Cippix 5.1

Major Update - Cippix 5.1 has been released!

The new Cippix release provides significant improvements to the recognition of misspelled or ill-OCR'ed chemical names. Imperfect Optical Character Recognition can lead to spoiled names in some full text documents provided by WIPO and other patent offices. Common OCR failures are now automatically re-interpreted in Cippix, which improves Chemical Content Recognition and Name to Structure conversion for wrongly OCR'ed chemical names.

For example, WO2010072647A2 contains the following paragraph in the original full text provided by the patent office:

"Similarly prepared, using the appropriate substituted phenyl Grignard reagents, were: (S)-2-(3-fluoro-phenyl)-2,3-dihydro-lH-pyridin-4-one; and (S)-2-(3,4-difluoro-phenyl)-2,3-dihydro-lH-pyridin-4-one."

(S)-2-(3-fluoro-phenyl)-2,3-dihydro-lH-pyridin-4-one and
(S)-2-(3,4-difluoro-phenyl)-2,3-dihydro-lH-pyridin-4-one

are correctly identified as chemical names and
in addition become now re-interpreted and corrected to

(S)-2-(3-fluoro-phenyl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyridin-4-one and
(S)-2-(3,4-difluoro-phenyl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyridin-4-one

We have now included all available Japanese Patent Applications and Granted Patents in the Cippix Database!

Our Chemical Content Recognition has been upgraded to identify Japanese chemical names in the Japanese full text. These Japanese chemical names are automatically converted into searchable English chemical names and the corresponding chemical structures.

This way, you can search the entire chemical information from all Japanese patents - from full text and not just abstracts - without knowing any Japanese language.

The new versions of Cippix Navigator 4.0 and Cippix View 4.0 include furthermore Japanese full text search, keyword search and visualisation capabilities.

Many of you have requested a tool to treat and adjust misspelled or unrecognised chemical names interactively. Cippix View 3.2 offers this feature now!

You can select any fraction of the patent document text and ask Cippix CCR to interpret it as a chemical name. Without leaving CCR View, you can also adjust the name by hand and re-run Cippix CCR on the fly.

Major Update - Cippix Navigator 3.7 is out!

The largest improvement comes with the new Keyword Search in Cippix.

You can now search all patents by titles, abstracts, descriptions, and claims plus all kinds of meta data fields including inventors, applicants, classification codes, application and publication numbers, priorities, and hierarchical IPC classification - in any combination.

Snippets are highlighted according to keyword relevance, which you can define for your specific queries.

The new Keyword Search is much faster and easy to use for beginners. Professional researchers will benefit from wildcards, near and similarity operators in combination with complex Boolean expressions and EPO Smart Search like fields.

We took the next steps in improving the export features as many of you requested. In addition to PDF export, structure tables can be exported in Excel format - now with chemical structures included.

What is next then?

We are currently working on the next version of our Chemical Content Recognition that will extract even peptide, DNA, and RNA sequences in addition to IUPAC, trade, trivial and other chemical names.

Multilanguage Chemical Content Recognition

Our Cippix Chemical Content Recognition supports more languages now. In addition to English and German, chemical entities are now also extracted with high quality from French sources. Most French names are directly converted into chemical structures or give Tentative Structures. The recognition of rare and non-standard nomenclature has been improved as well as the recognition of trivial names and synonyms. We like to thank you for submitting problems to our support team.

Cippix Document Similarity Search overcomes the natural language barriers and retrieves similar documents even when they are provided in different languages.

Cippix does not rely on official language tags in WO, EP, and CA and deals with misclassified and mixed language texts as well.
